Paddleboat excursion leads to 46-inch muskie
Recently on Portage Bay of Leech Lake 10-year-old Alex Ash persuaded his friend, 14-year-old Alex Castagneri, to join him on a fishing excursion in a paddle boat.
The boys threw lures at whatever would bite and soon Castagneri hooked into what they thought was a large northern pike.
Ash eventually netted the fish but, because the boys couldn't hoist it into the boat, they kept the bottom of the net in the water while they returned to shore.
Once on land the boys raced to find the camera and summoned all of the relatives.
The fish turned out to be a 46-inch muskie and, after the photo session, the muskie was released.
