Outbuilding in Grant Valley Township destroyed in fire
An outbuilding in Grant Valley Township was destroyed by fire Saturday, but firefighters were able to contain the fire so it did not spread to the nearby home.
According to a press release from Bemidji Fire Chief Dave Hoefer:
The fire was reported at 7:14 p.m. on the 800 block of Schroeder Road Northwest by a passing motorist. Firefighters arrived on scene and found an outbuilding, which contained a hot water heating system, completely engulfed in flames.
The fire was threatening a nearby house. Firefighters contained and extinguished the fire. Ten firefighters responded with one fire engine and one tanker. They were on scene about 40 minutes.
No one was injured.
The fire caused about $7,000 worth of damage, destroying the outbuilding and its contents. There was minor damage to a nearby home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bemidji Fire Department but no foul play is suspected and it appears to be accidental in nature.
Assisting at the scene were the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
