A Minntac worker suffered serious injuries in a small explosion at the taconite plant in Mountain Iron Wednesday. Family members say 52-year-old Jon Malek of Tower is in stable condition at a Duluth hospital.

U.S. Steel says operations at the plant were in the process of resuming Thursday.
