The new Northwest Minnesota Foundation program is designed to help participants lead and find success in business, community and life - to become better at what they do.

Applications are due Dec. 1 and are available online at www.nwmf.org.

The first session will take place Jan. 27-29 at the Hiawatha Beach Resort on Leech Lake north of Walker. The second session will be held April 28-29 at the same site.

Participants commit to attending both sessions.

The cost is $1,000, reflecting a $1,500 scholarship for persons within the NMF 12-county service area, and $2,500 for those outside NMF's region (residents from other rural Minnesota counties are eligible for limited scholarships).

A fee of $100 is required with the completed application. The fee counts toward tuition. Contact the NMF office at 759-2057 or 800-659-7859 for details.

Participants will focus on developing skills in four competency areas: discovering and developing strengths, communicating effectively, developing a team of people, and navigating complex situations.

This program uses self-awareness tools and activities to enhance leadership capabilities. It features personal assessments and an online technology platform for communication and integration. Skills are learned by participating in two transformational leadership retreat experiences, separated by 12 weeks of an integrated Action Learning Lab that includes one-on-one professional coaching.
