Olivia, Minn., child in critical condition; suspect arrested
OLIVIA, Minn. - A 19-month-old child is in critical condition this morning and a suspect is in custody at the Renville County Jail in connection with the incident.
Law enforcement officers received a 911 call around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday that a 19-month-old child was unresponsive.
The child was transported by ambulance to the Renville County Hospital where it was determined the child had suffered "significant injuries," according to a news release from the Olivia Police Department.
The child was later flown to St. Paul Children's Hospital and is in critical condition today.
A suspect was taken into custody. The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending formal charges by the Renville County Attorney's office.
The case is being investigated by the Olivia Police Department, with assistance from the Renville County Sheriff's Office.
