Ofstedal joins teaching staff
Week before last, we introduced you to one of the new teachers in Blackduck Schools and now it's time to meet the second of the six new faculty members who are becoming familiar faces in the school classrooms and corridors.
Peter Ofstedal is a brand new teacher, joining Blackduck High School's Social Studies Department. Even though this is Mr. Ofstedal's first teaching job, he's no stranger to the education and enrichment of young people. Peter comes to us from jobs with the Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area and with years of coaching sports through summer recreation programs as well as junior varsity girls basketball in Fosston - his alma mater. Peter lives in Bemidji and is very happy to join the staff at Blackduck High School because he feels that it is a good school and since he likes living in the area, is glad to be able to put down roots in northern Minnesota.
His own favorite school memory is of playing in the state high school golf tournament... could be we'll have a ringer in line for next year's Drakes' Scramble? In his spare time, Mr. Ofstedal enjoys the area lakes, as well as playing golf, playing guitar and reading history and science fiction, several things he will undoubtedly have in common with his middle and high school students. He hopes to get involved and make a difference in, what he calls, "this great community." Thank you, Mr. Ofstedal, with your influence, what is, indeed a great community, has just gotten better!
