Officials say report of ‘armed and dangerous’ trio unfounded
BEMIDJI -- A weekend report of three people wearing masks, possibly armed with a handgun and threatening the husband of the woman who made the complaint, was determined to be unfounded by police a day later.
The woman, whose name was not released, called police about 6 p.m. Saturday. She told deputies with the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office that three people were in the woods near the couple’s home, that they had threatened the woman’s husband and were possibly armed with a handgun, according to a press release from Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp.
A CodeRED alert was issued to residents in the area “due to the nature of the complaint,” Hodapp said, but the reports were deemed unfounded on Sunday.
