Gerda Peterson, 94, of Kelliher, died Aug. 4, 2009 at The Cornerstone Residence in Kelliher.
Memorial services will be held Aug. 15 2 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Kelliher with Pastor Dan Heath officiating. A memorial visitation will be held Aug.14 from 6-8 p.m. at Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck. Internment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Kelliher under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Ronald and Gerald Lindmark, Leslie and Richard Pederson and Jim Torgerson.
She was born Aug. 3, 1915 in Shotley to Hans and Hilda (Tollefsdotter) Torgerson. She was raised in Shotley and attended school in Shotley and Kelliher. She married Wilbur Peterson Feb. 22, 1936 and was widowed in 1989.
In her earlier years, she worked at Eggens Café in Kelliher, she had a lunch bar at Gabby's Resort in Waskish, worked at their grocery store (Pete's Grocery) with her husband, worked at the Good Samaritan Home in the laundry room. She was also an assistant cook at the Kelliher School. She was a member of the Kelliher Garden Club in earlier years and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
At the age of 93 she was still living in her own house until November of 2008 when she moved into the Cornerstone Residence. Her pastimes at one time were ice fishing, gardening, her yard and flowers and picking any kind of berry. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne of Blackduck and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Herman, Hank and Martin and five sisters, Solvey, Edith, Margaret, Hilda and Aaste.
