Oak Hills to pack food for needy
Feed My Starving Children is conducting a Mobile Packing Event from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, March 27 and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, March 28, on the campus of Oak Hills Christian College, 1600 Oak Hills Road S.W., Bemidji. A celebration benefit concert will be held from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, in the Fellowship Center Chapel at Oak Hills.
Feed my Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding starving children. Their approach is simple: volunteers hand-pack meals formulated especially for starving children and FMSC ships the meals to more than 60 countries around the world including Haiti. In 2008, they sent 25.5 million meals to Haiti.
Volunteers are needed in order to make this event a success. Teams of 4-6 volunteers will pack meals for a two-hour time slot. Adults, teens and children in third grade or higher are welcome to volunteer
Donations will also be accepted to pay for the 100,000 meals that will be packed. Donations can be made payable to FMSC, add MP 1003-29 to the memo line and sent to Oak Hills Christian College, 1600 Oak Hills Road S.W., Bemidji, MN 56601. To donate online visit the Web site fmsc.org/mobilepack/donate and enter 1003-29 as the event number. For every dollar contributed, 94 percent goes directly toward the food program.
