Nurse Becky honored at Blackduck School

Blackduck Teachers organized a letter of support to honor Nurse Becky for National School Nurse's Day, May 9. The staff, students and community wrote notes of appreciation and donated money towards gift cards for Nurse Becky! Wednesday morning K-6 tricked Nurse Becky by secretly gathering in the gym and surprised her with a gift and a huge thank you! Nurse Becky does so much more than just being our school nurse. Some of the things she does or has done are that she wrote to get a grant for fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks twice a week in the elementary. The grant was for $25,000. She cuts, cleans and peels these fruits and vegetables twice a week. The fruits and vegetables are purchased from the local grocery store, she plans Field Day in the elementary every year, is going back to school for her RN degree, mentors students in personal hygiene, was instrumental in getting a vision screening machine for our school and area schools and walks and talks with kids when they just need an ear. These are just some of the many things Nurse Becky does on a daily basis!The staff and students of Blackduck School cannot thank her enough for her services.
