On Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds, 43 students received their ATV Youth Safety Certification.

The Northwoods Riders OHV Club had at least 12 volunteers helping with registration and the field course. The classroom portion consisted of special guest speaker Mark Hadrava, who spoke on "Wear Your Helmet." John Wetterlund, EMT, briefed students on tips of first aid, exposure and trauma. DNR Conservation Officer Stacey Sharp reviewed some new and existing laws and Beltrami County ATV Deputy Brian Burt covered issues concerning Beltrami County. Burt stressed that if the trails are not posted closed, then they are open to ride. Also, Burt commented on the issue that not all counties' ATV laws are alike.

The Northwoods Riders OHV Club would like to say thank you to all our volunteers and, to our classroom speakers, thank you for helping our youth ride safely and sharing skills.
