Northwood nursing home locked down

NORTHWOOD, N.D. — The nursing home at Northwood (N.D.) Deaconess Health Center went into “lockdown” for a time Wednesday afternoon when police believed a gunman was on the loose, according to Officer Matt Evenson with the town’s police department.

Stan Baker, a former resident in his 30s now living in the Fargo-Moorhead area, allegedly made a reference on Facebook to “shooting up the school” in Northwood, Evenson said.

School is not yet in session.

The nursing home was locked down because three of his friends work there, but there was no evidence he threatened the home.

Police in Fargo-Moorhead eventually took him in for questioning, Evenson said.
