The Pioneer award is given to companies that are safety focused and have the tire buyer’s interest in mind as they lead in the tire registration process. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration requires tire dealers to register customer tires for notification purposes in the event of a recall.
The evaluation process to determine the award recipients takes place over the course of a year. The award was announced Sept. 19 at the 2012 International Tire Exhibition and Conference in Cleveland.
Northwest Tire is a North Dakota company that was started in Dickinson in 1977. Today Northwest Tire has 16 locations, including one in Bemidji, and two Bandag Truck Tire retread shops.
