The ELCA's Northeast Minnesota Synod passed a resolution at its annual assembly in Grand Rapids this past weekend publicly opposing legislation that would prevent same gender couples from getting the support and protection that's afforded to others.

The amendment to ban same-sex marriage in Minnesota goes before voters Nov. 6. The Duluth News Tribune says the synod has more than 130 congregations and 72,500 members.
