Northern Beltrami County faces severe thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D., has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Beltrami County until 6:45 p.m.

The weather service's Doppler radar indicated a line of storms capable of producing winds greater than 70 mph and quarter-sized hail.

The storms were located in a line southeast of Skime to near Espelie and moving east at 45 mph.

Areas expected to be impacted include Gates Corner, Carmel, Malcolm, Fourtown, Thorhult, Ponemah, Shotley and Waskish.

Severe thunderstorms can occasionally produce tornadoes with little or no advance warning.
