NORDIC SKIING: A pair of sixth place finishes for Bemidji

LITTLE FALLS -- Both the boys and girls Bemidji Nordic Ski teams finished in sixth place Monday at Camp Ripley in Little Falls.

The 12-school event was a pursuit style race with a 5 kilometer race followed by a freestyle, and was considered a warm-up for sections in February.

Isaac Wieber, of St. Cloud Tech, took first in the boys competition with a time of 32:55 and led his team to a victory.

Bemidji’s 303 points, 56 shy of St. Cloud Tech, earned sixth place.

Billy Freyholtz led BHS with a time of 37:59 and earned 14th place. He was joined in the top 30 by Josh Claussen (25th) and Ethan Young (26th.)

All ten of Bemidji’s participants finished in the top 65 in the field of 86.

Mora claimed first place in the girls competition with a score of 369.

Bemidji tallied 289 points to place sixth.

Maria Houer, of Little Falls, was the winner of the girls event with a time of 37:02.

Morgan Sagedahl led Bemidji with a seventh place finish and a time of 42:22. Maari Stocker followed with a time of 44:55 to finish 21st.

BHS will ski again in a home event Saturday at Buena Vista.
