BEMIDJI -- The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D., is reporting that the Bemidji area received about a fourth-inch of precipitation and between 4 and 6 inches of new snow during the latest winter weather event.

The Bemidji area was spared from the brunt of the blast, which dumped nearly a foot of snow in the Grand Forks area, closing schools for the day and temporarily shutting down roadways. Twenty inches of new snow was reported in Grafton, N.D.

The weather for the rest of the week looks more pleasant, with high temperatures predicted to be 27 degrees today and above 30 for the remainder of the week. The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 42 for Saturday.
