NLRB ruling favors 6 fired at Jimmy John's
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minneapolis company that owns ten Jimmy John's franchises has a month to appeal a ruling from a federal labor panel that ordered six former employees to be rehired and receive back pay.
The six filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board claiming they were forced to work while sick. They put up posters critical of MikLin Enterprises' sick leave policy. And some made an attempt to unionize workers at the sub shops, an effort that narrowly failed.
MikLin fired the employees in March 2011. The company issued a statement Monday which said the workers were fired because their "malicious actions" disparaged Jimmy John's and its products.
KSTP-TV says the NLRB also ruled the fired workers' protests were not malicious in intent.
