Nicole Denise Reed, 32, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Walker, died Friday, April 3, 2009, of liver cancer.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker with the Rev. Greg Jorgenson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at Dennis Funeral Home in Walker and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walker.
She was born Sept. 17, 1976, in Park Rapids to Shaleen and Denis Black. She grew up and attended school in Walker, graduating from Walker High School with honors in 1995. After high school, she attended Bemidji State University where she graduated in 1998 with a degree in physical education.
On Aug. 28, 1999, she married David Reed. After a few moves, they made their home in Roseau. She taught school and coached in Baudette and Warroad. She went back to school to earn a nursing degree prior to their move to Spirit Lake in May 2008. She was most recently employed at Fairmont Orthopedic Center for Specialty Care.
Her favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting, camping, going to garage sales and going for walks and rides in the woods. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her husband, David; children, Brooke, Chase and McKenzie; parents; and sister, Michelle (Wayne) Stadnik.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lois and Robert Kennedy, and paternal grandparents, Lydia and Russell Black.
