Nicholson, Pottinger rink claim bronze medal

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Allison Pottinger rink, which includes Bemidji curler Natalie Nicholson, captured the bronze medal Friday at the USA Curling national Championships.

In Thursday’s late playoff semifinal Pottinger lost 8-7 to Erika Brown of Wisconsin. That setback dropped Pottinger into Friday’s third-place match where it belted Alex Carlson of Wayzata 11-2.

Pottinger took control early with three in the second end and three more in the fourth. Steals of two in the fifth and sixth ends cemented the victory.

Today’s championship game matches Courtney George of Duluth against Brown.

Friday’s late men’s semifinal matched Brady Clark of Washington against John Shuster of Duluth. That winner will face Tyler George of Duluthtoday for the title.
