Nicholas "Nick" Faymoville, Jr., 83
Nicholas "Nick" Faymoville, Jr., age 83, of Bemidji, MN, died Tuesday, May 1, 2008 at his home, with his wife of 40 years, Judy, at his side.
Memorial services will be conducted by the family at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Aardahl Lutheran Church with Pastor Arlen Stensland officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN.
Nick was born on a farm in Anoka County, Minnesota on October 12, 1924, to Nicholas Faymoville Sr. and Delia Faymoville. At the age of 15, he left school to help on the family farm. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served most of his duty in the South Pacific. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he married Janet Hagen and raised two children, Cheryl and Nicholas. They later divorced. Then in 1967, he married Judy Kaukonen.
Nick worked in sales for most of his life, selling cars for Spaulding Motors during his college days and for Dave Walters in car and mobile home sales. He was a real estate broker and owner of Faymoville Realty.
Nick was an avid reader and lifelong learner and at age 40, passed his college entrance exams and enrolled at Bemidji State University graduating with B.A. degrees in English and American Humanities. He continued his studies at the University of Massachusetts. He also had many hobbies and interests, including woodworking, metalworking, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, gardening and picking wild berries and mushrooms. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and grooming trails for the snowmobile club where he was the past president of the North Country Snowmobile Club. Nick was also a mentor for Kinship North and a member of the Bemidji Citizen Patrol and the Pinewood American Legion.
Surviving Nick are his wife, Judy Faymoville, Bemidji, MN; son, Nicholas Faymoville IV, Campbellsport, WI; daughter, Cheryl Siegel, Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas V, Renee, Kristina; great grandchildren, Saphyre, Camden, Jayden; brother, Lloyd (Donna) Faymoville, Mounds View, MN; sisters, Dora Letourneau, Minneapolis, MN and Marion Houle, Blaine, MN; his church family at Aardahl and the large "adopted" family of Don Gregory.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Della Olson and Blanche Andrus.
Nick's family wishes that memorials be directed to Aardahl Lutheran Church or North Country Hospice.
