--PULLOUT--Skateboarding lessons offered
BEMIDJI -- The city of Bemidji is offering skateboarding lessons 10-11 a.m. for beginners and 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the intermediate level Saturdays Aug. 10-24 at City Park Skate Park.
Cost is $18. Helmets are required and skateboarders are responsible for their own skateboard.
Pre-register at www.ci.bemidji.mn.us or at the Public Works Facility, 1351 5th St. NW, or at City Hall, 317 4th St. NW.
--PULLOUT--Mushroom Club weekend set
BEMIDJI -- The Paul Bunyan Mushroom Club of Minnesota will gather Sept. 6-8 at the Deep Portage Learning Center, 2197 Nature Center Dr. NW in Hackensack.
The club will collect mushrooms and listen to experts on mushroom identification and cultivation, mushroom diversity and their role in the environment.
The chief speaker will be Tom Volk, Professor of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse.

--PULLOUT--Coats for Community begins
BEMIDJI -- The annual United Way of Bemidji Area's Coats for the Community drive will be accepting donations through Oct. 2 at Dress Club Cleaners, JCPenney, Lueken's Village Foods North and South, Sport & Spinal Rehab and the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center lobby.
Donations of gently used men's, women's, infant's and children's coats and snowsuits are welcome. Winter accessories such as boots, scarves, gloves and hats will also be accepted.
Organizers ask that pairs of gloves or boots are attached prior to donating.
Distribution is set for 8 a.m. to noon at First Lutheran Church, 900 Bemidji Ave. N.
--PULLOUT--NWMF offers leadership scholarships
BEMIDJI -- The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is offering leadership growth and development scholarships to nonprofit organizations and small businesses within the 12 county region.
Applications can be found at www.nwmf.org under upcoming events.
The scholarships are designed to help build the leadership capacity and service depth.
A small business is defined as one that has less than $1 million in gross sales and five or fewer employees.
