Locke to perform concert and native dance ensemble
BEMIDJI -- Kevin Locke will perform a concert and Native American dance ensemble at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Beaux Arts Ballroom at Bemidji State University.
Admission is free. The performance is sponsored by the BSU Council of Indian Students and the American Indian Resource Center.
Palace Casino Chili Cook Off set
CASS LAKE -- The 7th Annual Palace Casino Chili Cook Off will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Bingo Hall of the Palace Casino, 16599 69th Ave. NW.
Cost is $5 for a bottomless bowl of chili. All proceeds go to United Way of the Bemidji Area.

BPD to give away car seats
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Police Department will give away approximately 50 car seats valued between $25 and $55 to families in need on Sept. 28, by appointment.
The appointment will consist of a video for caregivers to watch, educational material and proper installation of the child seat. Each will take between 40 to 60 minutes.
