BGC announces upcoming hours
BEMIDJI -- The Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area will be closed Aug. 30 to Sept. 6 for staff training, fall planning, gym maintenance and painting.
Administrative offices will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3 to 6.
Regular after-school hours will resume Sept. 9 with elementary from 2:50 to 6 p.m. and middle school and high school from 2:50 to 7 p.m.
Students who are age 6 through 18 and are in grades one through 12 who wish to become members must complete a membership form, pay $15 for January through December membership and attend a one-hour orientation with a parent/guardian 5 p.m. on Mondays.

Construction continues on Highway 59
PLUMMER -- Motorists on state Highway 89 are encouraged to use the signed detour as work continues over the Clearwater River Bridge near Plummer.
Motorists may experience delays as closures occur on non-detour roads in the area.
The detour follows state Highway 92, state Highway 32 and Pennington County Road 3.
The project is expected to last until mid-September.
Detour lifted on Highway 200 near Laporte
LAPORTE -- The detour on state Highway 200 near Laporte has been lifted, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said Friday.
The detour has been in place since May 28 as crews worked to reconstruct a stretch of the highway, including replacing culverts and resurface work for 2 miles.
Bemidji Bike seeks citizen cyclists
BEMIDJI -- Bemidji Bike, a local citizen advocacy group, will host a meeting for citizen cyclists to join their group and offer suggestions on cycling in Bemidji 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Cabin Coffeehouse and Cafe, 214 3rd St. NW.
The group will discuss what makes a business, university or community bicycle friendly. Dorian Grilley of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota will attend the meeting.
