Blue Ox Marathon volunteer meeting set

BEMIDJI-- Race organizers of the Blue Ox Marathon invite the public to learn about volunteer opportunities 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Paul Bunyan Communications, 1831 Anne St. NW.

Heartland Christian Academy to open preschool

BEMIDJI-- Heartland Christian Academy will offer preschool classes for ages 3 to 5 for the upcoming school year.

Classes for ages 3 to 4 will be offered Tuesday and Thursday and classes for ages 4 to 5 will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Parents may choose the half-day or full-day option.

Amy Guntzel, a recent graduate of Bemidji State University, has been hired as the preschool teacher.

BGC Golf Championship approaches

BEMIDJI -- The Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area will host their annual Golf Championship fundraiser Monday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.

To register a team of two or four, download a registration form at www.bgcbemidji.com. The fee is $80 and includes green fees, beverages, dinner and prizes. Hole sponsorship is also available for $125 per hole.

This is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the Boys & Girls Club. Last year, the Golf Championship raised more than $10,000.

City of Bemidji adds fall programs

BEMIDJI -- The city of Bemidji has announced three new fall programs including Lego Club, the Boo Dash 5K Fun Trail Run and the fall preschool program.

Lego Club will meet 3:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays Sept. 9 through Nov. 25 at the Public Works Facility, 1351 5th St. NW. Cost is $5 per week or $45 for all 12 weeks. The club is designed for ages 1 to 5.

The preschool fall program is designed for ages 2 to 6. It will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays Sept. 9 through Oct. 28 at the City Park Multi Use Building, 1351 5th St. NW. Cost is $5 per participant.

The Boo Dash 5K Fun Trail Run will begin with check in at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Montebello Ski Trail at City Park. The race will start at 4 p.m.

Cost is $15 if participants pre-register, along with a T-shirt. Cost is 18 on the day of the race.
