The "City as a Park" is considering adding a new neighborhood park to its register.

Bemidji now has 19 parks and approximately 205 acres of parkland or open space within the city limits, according to the city Web site.

That number could become an even 20.

The city is considering a new neighborhood park that would be located on 30th Street Northwest between Ridgeway Drive Northwest and Delton Avenue Northwest.

Interested members of the public are encouraged to offer input to the Parks and Trails Commission during a public meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Public Works Facility on Fifth Street Northwest.

North County Health Services has been working with the city of Bemidji on parkland dedication requirements.

The city's master park plan identifies a need for a neighborhood park along 30th Street, which has tentatively been referred to as "Ridgeway Park."

Details of what the park may look like, if developed, have not been decided.

Marcia Larson, the city's parks and recreation director, encourages interested residents to attend the meeting and offer their input and suggestions.
