New Bemidji City Council to be seated
At least one campaign pledge has come true.
The new Bemidji City Council will convene Monday with a new agenda schedule.
As incoming Mayor Dave Larson pledged during his campaign, the council has moved up the portion of the agenda dedicated to citizens who want to talk to the council.
Now, rather than waiting until the final agenda item, citizens with business not listed on the agenda, will be welcomed to the podium right after the consent agenda is considered.
The new council will be seated at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall after re-elected Ward 2 Councilor Roger Hellquist and newly elected Larson and Councilors Rita Albrecht and Jim Thompson take the Oath of Office.
The agenda includes consideration of the feasibility report for the 2011 Street Renewal Project, which would include the reconstruction of parts of Minnesota Avenue; and Eighth, 10th, 12th and 14th streets.
If accepted, the council would call for a public hearing on the project, which includes plans to assess for improvements, for Feb. 7.
