Becker County native Nellie H. Cary, 92, of Middletown, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in Ohio.

Nellie was born to Nels and Hulda Westgard on February 20, 1915 in Becker County. She lived most of her life in the Ulen area, where she was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years.

In 2001 Nellie moved to Middletown to be near her son, Raymond, and she joined Zion Lutheran Church there. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved to sew and read and was quick to lend a helping hand to those around her.

Surviving Nellie are her son, Raymond (Wanda) Cary of Middletown; a half brother, Roger Westgard of Detroit Lakes; two grandchildren; two great grandsons and many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, M. Lowell Cary of Ulen; her parents; three brothers, Arthur Westgard, Arthur (the second) Westgard and Axel Westgard; two sisters, Olaug Anderson and Mabel Vogt; a half brother, Andrew Westgard; and five half sisters, Blenda Anderson, Marjorie Anderson, Edna Westgard, Helen Coleman, and Alvina Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ulen.
