The Forum newspaper reportsthat federal warrants were issued this month for eight people in the investigation that authorities have been working on for nearly 1 ½ years.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett Shasky says the suspects allegedly were involved in trafficking crack cocaine, along with some powder cocaine, heroin, marijuana and oxycodone.

The investigation involved officials with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Cass County Drug Task Force in North Dakota.
