Naomi "Noni" Jean Leseman, 72, of Bemidji, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gemmell Community Church in Gemmell, Minn., with the Rev. Sheldon Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mizpah Cemetery in Mizpah, Minn., under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
She was born Aug. 22, 1936, to John and Lillie (Dreke) Orrison in Goodridge, Minn. She attended school in Grand Rapids, Minn., and graduated in 1954. She attended St. Luke's College in Duluth and graduated in 1958 as a registered nurse.
She worked at the Ada Hospital for seven years before working at the Northome Nursing Home, where she was assistant director of nursing, director of nursing and a charge nurse. She moved from Mizpah to Bemidji, where she had lived for the past couple of years.
She was a member of Gemmell Community Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and gardening.
She is survived by sons, Matthew (Jackie) Leseman of Wasilla, Alaska, Scott (Natalie) Leseman of Stillwater, Minn., and John (Julie) Leseman of Bemidji; sisters, Ruth Mayer of Payson, Ariz., and Louise Orison of Bemidji; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Dave; and a sister, Margaret.
