Myrtle Luella (Englestad) Johnson, 97, of Puposky, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society in Clearbrook.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji with the Rev. Jay Borchert officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the spring in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Liberty Township, Pony Lake, Minn.
Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren.
She was born Oct. 10, 1911, to Lars and Laura Engelstad in Holst Township in Clearwater County. She moved with her family to Nymore in 1925. She married Clarence Johnson in 1932. They lived near Clearbrook for three years and then moved to the Maple Ridge area, where they spent the rest of their married life. After her husband died in 1981, she stayed on the farm until the last two years of her life. During the past two years she spent time with family and moved to the Good Samaritan Society in 2008.
She is survived by her sons, Laurand (special friend, Joyce) Johnson of Puposky, Elwood (Irene) Johnson of Bemidji, Larry (Arlene) Johnson of Kalispell, Mont., Dean (Bonnie) Johnson of Bemidji, Steve (Ginger) Johnson of Puposky and Stan (Deb) Johnson of Prior Lake, Minn.; daughters, Gayle (Chester) Djonne of Park Rapids, Janice Albers of Puposky, Dianne (Gary) Sundh of Kalispell, Mont., and Kathleen (Larry) Johnson of Buffalo, Minn.; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Vandermeer of Braman, Okla., and a sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son-in-law; brother, Marvin; sisters, Cora, Pauline, Petra, Irene and Edna; and a grandson.
