The VisitBemidji team will be one of many established worldwide. Participating men become known as “Mo Bros” as women also are encouraged to take part by raising awareness and generating support for the movement.

To join the local team, go online to www.mobro.co/visitbemidji

Men also maybe sign up at the “Shave the Date” booth Friday at the Sanford Center during Bemidji State University hockey games. The booth will be open 1-8:30 p.m.

Team members are expected to post before, during and after photos on the VisitBemidji team page.

The public is invited to donate to the VisitBemidji Team, or through specific team members, at www.mobro.co/visitbemidji

According to a press release, the Movember movement was born from recognition that a fun and engaging initiative could help encourage men to become more actively involved in their own health.

Movember aims to change the face of men’s health by getting conversations started at a grassroots level, educating men about health risks of prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges they face and raise vital funds for support programs.

All funds raised through VisitBemidji’s Facebook Movember campaign www.facebook.com/visitbemidji will be donated to support local men’s health initiatives and Movember programs.
