A family gathering ended in a deck collapse in Forest Lake on Saturday night, Aug. 18, resulting in multiple injuries.

Forest Lake police responded to a call in the 18600 block of Harrow Avenue North at 7:48 p.m. after a residential deck collapsed. They were assisted by multiple agencies including the Washington County sheriff's office, Minnesota State Patrol and Forest Lake Fire Department.

Approximately 27 people had gathered on the 12-foot-high deck to pose for a group photo when a portion of the deck collapsed, Forest Lake Police Sgt. Bruce Peterson said.

Multiple injuries were reported, mostly minor. Some people were taken to local hospitals by ambulance, while an elderly man was airlifted to a hospital Peterson said.
