The scholarship is awarded to those expressing an interest in technology in rural areas, with winners required to be serviced by an MTA-member telephone company. Paul Bunyan Communications was the member company to be referenced for Muller.

"Of the many passions in my life, the greatest is the desire to study medicine and the human body. After high school, I plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university to pursue this goal as well as my love for the Spanish language." said Elisa in her scholarship application.

Muller will graduate from Bemidji High School and plans to attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall.
