Mudcats set for home finale
The Bemidji Mudcats wind up their regular home season tonight hosting the Brainerd Bees in a 6 p.m. twin bill at BSU.
The two teams met twice earlier at Brainerd with the Bees sweeping those game by identical 6-3 scores.
A.J. Johnson and Paul Fenner each went down to their first losses of the year in those games.
The two teams have met frequently through the years and usually play to close results.
Bemidji takes an 18-14 record into play after a key sweep of the Duluth Xpress Sunday at Duluth.
That lifted them to 9-3 in Arrowhead league play and dropped the Xpress to 8-3 in games reported.
The Cats must still make up two postponements at both Hibbing and Grand Rapids with the Rapids pair set for Saturday.
The Hibbing, makeups have been delayed by the American Legion state tournament at that community this week.
Manager Neil Huewe can take his pick of most of his mound staff if they are available tonight.
Keenan Humphrey and Kevin Murphy worked the Duluth games with Simon Anderson finishing the final three frames of the nightcap.
Fenner and Tyler Norland might be held back for the Rapids twin bill Saturday.
Bemidji will host the Region 6B tournament Aug. 6-7-8 with the title game Aug. 14 at the home of the highest seed remaining.
