Mudcats need a sweep
The Bemidji Mudcats head to Grand Rapids today for a critical Arrowhead League double header.
It makes up two postponements caused when the Indians were unable to field a team.
The Cats projected themselves back into the league race with their sweep over Duluth last Sunday.
They have four games remaining, needing to sweep to keep a chance at taking the regular season title
Both Bemidji and Duluth show three losses with the Cats having nine wins and Duluth eight at last report.
Bemidji still must make up two rainouts at Hibbing before hosting the Region 6B tournament next weekend.
Grand Rapids put a serious crimp in the pennant hopes when it won here 1-0 last week behind Tyler Blomberg. He is likely to be on the hill again today.
Paul Fenner and Doug Peterson are the likely Bemidji hurlers unless the Thief River Babe Ruth team has been eliminated from its state meet at Moorhead.
The Cats are 19-15 overall. Grand Rapids was 2-10 in the Arrowhead at last report also having two games left with Duluth.
