Mother's Day crash injures seven north of Wadena

Seven people were injured Mother's Day in a three-car head-on crash on Highway 71 north of Wadena.

According to the State Patrol a northbound 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Scott Lamont, 48, of Sebeka crossed the center line, striking a 1997 Lincoln Town car, forcing it into the ditch, then colliding with a 1999 Plymouth Town and Country. Both collisions occurred in the south-bound lane of traffic.

Lamont was taken to an unknown hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Four occupants of the Town Car received non life-threatening injuries. They were Alice Makela, 57, Clinton Makela, 56, Seth Makela, 12, and Samuel Makela, 13, all of Menahga.

Two occupants of Town & Cpuntry also received minor injuries. They were listed as Melodie Olson, 43, of Albertville, and Margie Moxley, 66 of Wadena.

The Patrol was assisted by Wadena County Sheriff's Department and city police officers.

The cause of the accident, which occurred just after 1 p.m., is under investigation.
