Mother sentenced for hot car case
BEMIDJI – A mother who left four children in a hot car last summer was sentenced Monday to a year in jail with all but 24 days stayed.
Bianca Jean Hazelrigg also must spend two years on probation, pay a $100 fine and follow all conditions ordered by Beltrami County District Judge Paul Benshoof.
Hazelrigg, who was 21 last June when she was arrested, was accused of leaving the children in a hot car while she shopped for swimwear inside the Target store in Bemidji.
Last month, she pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge of child endangerment by putting a child in a situation that could cause harm or death.
