Moondance Jam to set once again

BEMIDJI — Minnesota’s largest rock festival is back starting Wednesday.

Moondance Jam, this is No. 23, starts Wednesday and runs through Saturday at the grounds 6.5 miles east of Walker on Minnesota Highway 200.

This year’s lineup includes some familiar favorites, as well as some newcomers.

Longtime staples of 70s and 80s radio, REO Speedwago, Styx and Foreigner are returning to Moondance, as are well-known acts George Thorogood and the Destroyers and Collective Soul. Don Felder, former Eagles guitarist, will perform, as will The Wallflowers and Badfinger featuring Joey Molland.

There are several bands playing Moondance for the first time, including alt-rock and hard rock players Seether, Alter Bridge, Skillet, Sick Puppies and Sublime with Rome. Also, 80s heavy metal rockers Autograph and Slaughter will be on the bill.

Headliners for the four-day event are Seether, Styx and REO Speedwagon. The first night headliners, for what’s called the Pre-Jam Party, is Hairball, a show featuring many acts of the 80s hard rock genre.

In addition to bands on the main stage, there are also musical acts performing at the Saloon Stage, the Tiki Bar Stage and the Lazy Moon stage, including local favorites The Acoust Hicks, as well as several tribute bands.
