Moen, Rietveld recognized

BEMIDJI — The Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area has recognized Russ Moen as a “Someone Special Volunteer.”

Moen has served as the golf coordinator for the club’s annual Bob Lowth Ford Golf Championship since its inception in 2005. He invites all of the golfers and secures sponsors, dedicating more than 200 hours to the fundraising event. Since 2005 it has raised more than $50,000 to the Club’s programs.

Moen is also active with Chamber Ambassadors and Beaver Pride.

The Artists of Studio 10 - Small Art 4 Big Hearts has recognized Melanie Rietveld as a “Someone Special Volunteer.”

Rietveld became a member of the Small Art for Big Hearts fundraiser through her role on the Bemidji Community Food Shelf Board. She connected with musicians to perform at the event, arranged two “Chat About” shows and did both interviews. She was a huge help with the event and was in attendance of every planning meeting.

The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize “Someone Special Volunteers” who have made significant contributions to the community.
