MnDOT warns of blowing, drifting snow over roads

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists in northwestern Minnesota to drive with extreme caution due to blowing and drifting snow creating scattered slippery areas and reduced visibility.

Mn/DOT reminds motorists to:

Keep a safe distance from the snowplows and be aware of what lane they are plowing when on multi-lane highways such as U.S. Highway 2.

Turn off your cruise control and keep your headlights on for visibility.

Use a safe speed for winter driving conditions, regardless of the posted speed limit.

Keep a safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front of you. Approach intersections with extreme caution.

Keep both hands on the steering wheel, your eyes on the road and your attention on your driving.
