MITCHELL LEE FUNNELL HARTHAN, age 23 of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Bemidji, MN due to injuries sustained in an industrial accident. Mitchell was born in 1989 in Grand Rapids, MN to Toni Lee Harthan. He grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 2009. He attended Mesabi Technical College. Mitchell worked at Potlatch Lumber Mill in Bemidji as a millwright for 14 months. He loved to hunt and fish and spent hours and days enjoying both. Mitchell was a kid who traded more trucks in his lifetime than anyone. He loved his job and the people he worked with. I, as his mother was so very proud of him!!
Mitchell was a loving son and brother. He loved his family. He adored his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Mitchell was a loving person and everyone he came in contact with loved him.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Willard Harthan; and great-grandparents, Alvin and Florence Samsal.
Mitchell is survived by his parents, Toni Lee Harthan and Michael Funnell; sister, Jenna Funnell; brother, Jesse Funnell; uncles, Tim Harthan and Troy (Brenda) Harthan; aunts, Terri (Farrell) Crowe, Debbie (Phil) Landry, Patti (Bob) Axtell, Shelly (Jerry) Loney, Kathy (Ron) Carpenter, and Melanie (Mike) Peura; grandparents, Dolores Harthan and Doug and Nancy Funnell; very special friend, David Seeley; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his special canine friends, Sheila and Scout.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 2nd from 11 am until the 1 pm Funeral Service at the Grand Rapids Alliance Church. Rev. Greg DeMuth will officiate. Burial will be Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, MN.
