According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office:

A faint emergency call was received at about 3:30 a.m. f from a hunter reporting that he was lost in the woods in Quiring Township north of state Highway 1.

The hunter, later identified as Rowdy Allen Schipper, 44, of Puposky, had lost his shoes and socks and was suffering from severe hypothermia when he notified authorities.

The Beltrami County Dispatch Center managed to keep the hunter on the line long enough to get a general fix on his location.

Responding to the area were County Sheriff's deputies, members of the Kelliher Fire Department and Blackduck Ambulance Service. The Sheriff's Office also got neighbors in the area to assist with the search.

Deputies, assisted by K-9 Vosco, located Schipper.

He was transported to North Country Regional Hospital for treatment of frostbite and severe hypothermia.
