Minnesotan gets jail time for possessing meth at home of vulnerable adult

Jacob Scott Forbord, 24, of Willmar, was sentenced Monday to 67 days in the county jail, a $1,000 fine and five years of probation on a felony charge of fifth-degree controlled substance for possessing methamphetamine while working at a home for vulnerable adults.

As part of his sentenced handed down in Kandiyohi County District Court, Forbord was also ordered to complete a chemical dependency evaluation, not use or possess al-cohol or drugs and write a letter of apology to Divine House.

As part of a plea agreement, another felony for storing meth paraphernalia in the presence of vulnerable adults was dismissed. He received credit for 28 days already served in jail and will be eligible for work release and community work service while in jail.

The charges were filed after an employee of Divine House called the Willmar police around 10:50 p.m. Jan. 7 to report he had attempted to enter the residence, but found the door locked. An officer and Divine House supervisor, who had a key to the home, responded. They entered to find Forbord asleep and a meth pipe on the countertop. He was awakened and admitted the pipe was his and that he had meth stashed in the console area of his car. Officers did find a bag with a substance that tested positive as meth in the vehicle. The complaint also notes that a vulnerable adult was present next to Forbord when he was found asleep in the home.
