Minneapolis man sentenced for cocaine distribution in Cass Lake area

Maurice Sykes Speltz, 27, of Minneapolis, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Monday for two counts of first-degree sale of a controlled substance.

Speltz was sentenced by Judge John P. Smith in Cass County District Court to 110 months in prison.

According to the press release:

Speltz admitted that he and others sold crack cocaine out of a residence near Cass Lake on several occasions.

The criminal complaint stated that he conspired with others to sell crack cocaine between January and April 2009.

The investigation was conducted by agents and investigators with the Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The prosecution of Speltz was a cooperative effort between Cass County and Beltrami County attorney offices.
