Minneapolis man dies following crash north of Walker

A Minneapolis man died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon north of Walker.

Roy R. Lovelace, 49, of Minneapolis, died en route to a hospital following the crash, which was reported at 4:14 p.m. on state Highway 371, 7 miles north of Walker.

Lovelace was the only fatality from the accident, in which two others were injured.The crash was misreported in Wednesday Pioneer as a double fatality.

According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol out of Brainerd:

Lovelace was a passenger in a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The southbound car crossed the centerline on a curve and hit a 2003 Dodge Dakota traveling north on Highway 371.

The driver of the PT Cruiser was Richard R. Norton, 25, of Cass Lake, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn. He was listed in critical condition Wednesday morning.

The Dakota, which was pulling a 1994 Yach trailer, was driven by Chris E. Larson of Atwater, Minn., who reported minor injuries but did not seek treatment.

Larson was wearing his seat belt. It was unknown if either Lovelace or Norton were wearing their seat belts.

Both vehicles were totaled. The Yach trailer sustained severe damage.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
