Trooper Nick Morse of Two Harbors was arrested Wednesday when he reported for training at the State Patrol district office in Duluth.

Officials say a supervisor noticed the odor of alcohol coming from Morse at the district office. Field sobriety tests were administered, and Morse was arrested by a State Patrol lieutenant.

Morse was taken to the St. Louis County Jail, where he took a breath test that registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent — the legal limit in Minnesota. Morse was then booked into jail and issued a citation for fourth-degree DUI.

Morse has been a state trooper since April 2009. The phone at his home rang unanswered Thursday.
