Minn. forum set up to help ease vaccine shortages

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — In a bid to overcome flu-vaccine shortages in some areas, Minnesota officials have set up a forum to connect health care providers who have vaccine with those who don't.

The state Department of Health said Monday it's not actually facilitating the exchange of vaccine. Instead, officials are simply providing an online forum where health care entities can connect.

The health department says Minnesota continues to experience widespread flu activity. It says demand for vaccine is still high, but some health care providers have exhausted their supply and are looking for more.

There are several variations of flu vaccine, which differ by manufacture, intended age group and manner of dosage.

The forum is only intended for the exchange of privately purchased vaccine.
