Michael Chaffin wins gold of NazKidz World Quiz

Michael Chaffin, son of Jeff and Kelly Chaffin of Northome, has won a gold trophy at the NazKidz World Quiz in Orlando, FL.

June 27, Chaffin and 1,165 other Blue Level quizzers along with 866 Red Level quizzers and over 8,000 spectators gathered in the corporate worship area for the Church of the Nazarene's NazKidz World Quiz. There were 712 participants in the Blue Level quiz who received gold trophies.

The kids who were gathered for the NazKidz World Quiz in Orlando, Florida were joined by 20 children in the Leeward Virgin Islands, 12 children in East Africa and 12 children in West Africa.

The NazKidz World Quiz is held every four years in conjunction with the Church of the Nazarene's General Assembly where Nazarenes from all over the world come together to conduct business of the Church of the Nazarene and join in worship and participate in a mission project as well as adult, teen and children's events.

Children's Bible Quizzing is a Bible study geared for kids in grades 1-6. The competition aspect is optional. In competition the kids may compete at one of two levels. Red level is typically for children in grades 1-3 and Blue level is for kids in grade 4-6. Every year there is a District level quiz.

Northern Point Community Church of the Nazarene had three boys that participated in the Minnesota District Quiz in March. They were Chaffin, Philip Anderson of Kelliher and Clyde Jensen of Waskish. All three boys qualified for this years NazKidz World Quiz.

Children's Bible Quizzing has a six year rotation studying different books of the Bible. The books that are studied are Genesis; Exodus; Joshua, Judges, Ruth; 1 and 2 Samuel; Matthew and Acts. For the 2008-2009 quiz year the kids studied and competed on the book of Exodus. The 2009-2010 Quiz year focuses on the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth.
