MeritCare recognized for helping community

MeritCare has received the 2009 VHA Leadership Award for Community Benefit Excellence, specifically for the Faithfully Fit Forever Program.

This award, which is presented to only five medical centers nationwide, recognizes MeritCare's efforts in providing services and treatment, and promoting health and healing in response to community health needs.

In 2008, MeritCare invested more than $61 million in community benefit programs, such as Community Care, medical and community education, research, parish nursing, its partnership with the Family HealthCare Center, Adopt-A-School and the Living Well Workshop.

Roger Gilbertson, M.D., CEO and President, will accept the award Monday, June 29, at the VHA Upper Mid-West executive meeting in Minneapolis.
